Stour Valley Singers is a community choir based in Bures on the Essex/Suffolk border.
We meet to practise once a week (currently Tuesday evening at 7.30) and put on two or three performance every year. The repertoire is varied, andyou can get a taste of what we do from our previous concerts, future performances and sample recordings.
At present we have around 30 members, but as an open community choir are keen to encourage new members. We are open to anyone living or working in the local area who is able to get to our practice venue in Bures, Ferriers Barn, which is not far from the centre of Bures. (Most come by car or bike, but some do walk from the centre of Bures. There is plenty of parking at Ferriers barn)
We have no age limits and there is no audition.
We aim to be a positive force in the local community by giving everyone the chance to enjoy making good music in a friendly setting and providing music which is a pleasure for our audiences too. Our Musical Director and our pianist are both highly qualified and experienced professional musicians who are able to ensure that we reach a high standard of performance.
Singing in a choir is not only one of the most fun and sociable things to do but also is very good for physical and mental health. (No sweat!)
